FAITH over FEAR Youth & Student EVENT!

First Baptist Church is excited to announce our first one-day youth rally:

Featuring Worship led by our friends of Trinitas (Shreveport, LA and Tyler, TX), and teaching by Micah Powell.

FEAR...

Fear can do a lot more than cause us to shake or want to hide.  For some, it causes us to become angry, fearful- and it can destroy families, friendships - and chase us from the very things in life that matter.  F.U.D. - Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt...  After the last year and a half, we all should be very familiar with these terms.  Fear overtook many, changed lives - Uncertainty cause paralysis and government officials to make decisions that will long be questioned, and of course Doubt - or even pessimism that comes naturally with fear and uncertainty - and all three of these things are tools that Satan uses to try to stop, squash, and destroy lives that could otherwise be joy-filled testimonies.

TRINITASTrinitas is a trio consisting of Chanin & Mandy Barker (Shreveport, LA), plus Keith Copley (Tyler, TX), who bring an energy and excitement fueled by a genuine passion for Christ and the Saving Grace poured out through the Gospel.  The music styles in the library of Trinitas is across the spectrum - from Southern Gospel to Contemporary Christian and Praise - We are glad to have Trinitas as a part of this important event!

Micah Powell, and his wife of 12 years Rachel, is currently a student at Midwestern Baptist

Micah and Family

Theological Seminary in Kansas City, and has served as a worship pastor, youth pastor, family pastor, and frequent camp + youth speaking engagements.  Micah is an engaging speaker, compassionate soul, and absolutely a spaz for the redeeming work of Jesus Christ - with a passion and energy for equipping folks for life and ministrythrough discipleship.  His background speaks very clearly and loudly to the subject of battling fear, uncertainty, and doubt, and there is absolutely no chance that you listen to Micah without coming away strengthened and very likely changed.

COVID-19 Awareness and Plans

While we never shut down or locked the doors to in-person worship and classes, most chose the prudent step of remaining home, with many watching the teaching and preaching from their homes. As of two weeks ago, we began actively encouraging members and visitors to return. We must remember that there is never a 100% safe scenario, with or without a virus such as SARS-CoV-2 (otherwise known as Coronavirus or COVID-19, which is the sickness it produces). But, in an effort to provide as safe an environment as we can, we have taken some additional steps beyond our usual cleaning routine to try to alleviate some degree of the worry experienced by some. These steps include (but are not limited to):

  • Additional effort in cleaning and sanitizing often-touched surfaces.
  • Provision of hand sanitizer at the main most-used entrances
  • A limited number of disposable face masks have been made available and are stationed at these same entrances, or you may bring/wear your own.
  • Fogging of the entire facility with a certified disinfectant/sanitizing product (Fresh15). This will be reapplied as-necessary to those spaces which have been utilized during the week.

We also ask:

  • If you are sick, or exhibiting signs of ANY contagious disease, please stay home, for your sake as well as that of our brothers and sisters.
  • If you are under a suggested or mandatory quarantine, please follow those guidelines.
  • While we won’t “enforce” a 6ft. social distancing rule, we do ask that you respectfully maintain a reasonable distance from those who are not in your immediate household or family unless specifically invited by others.
    • We are a “Hugging Church”, meaning we are not shy in loving others with an embrace. While this is much appreciated and perfectly acceptable, many who are at highest risk from this or any significant illness may prefer to maintain distance.  So – before you hug someobody, or shake their hand – be sure its “ok” with them.
  • Please practice diligent hand washing and use of hand sanitizer.

We look forward to seeing you face-to-face soon!

Easter Sunrise On The Hill

Weather permitting, we will still have our Easter Sunrise service on Sunday, April 12 @7AM!  We will, of course, practice safe distancing between family/household groups. We also encourage everyone who can come, to practice judicious hand washing and you are welcome to wear a face mask or respirator if you feel led.

Our service will be set up on the hill, with seating in the parking lot.

MAKE DISCIPLES! #FBCBIBLECON2020

POSTPONED

First Baptist Church of Cave Springs is excited to announce our 2020 Bible Conference titled “Make Disciples“.

Of all the purposes Jesus gave for His church, the primary purpose left was to make disciples. Yet no other responsibility is as misunderstood, undervalued, or unfulfilled as this Great Commission to make disciples.  Making disciples isn’t a program, a literature series, or simply attendance of church services. Discipleship is far more, expressed as the simple expression:

Time + Life + Bible = Discipleship

Or as we of FBCCS are learning, it is as Acts 2 portrays it – Life Together.

The conference will run from Sunday, March 29 – Wednesday, April 1, beginning each evening at 6:30PM. Each speaker was selected through extensive prayer with a goal of inviting those with a proven passion and track record of disciple-making. Each carries with him a unique set of experiences and insight that you will find encouraging, convicting, and possibly most important: equipping.

One thing for certain – we must step up our investment in one-another to genuinely Make Disciples. Mark your calendars and prepare to be engaged on this extremely urgent and often forgotten purpose for the church.

SPEAKERS:

Picture of Bruce ShortSunday, March 29Bro. Bruce Short, pastor of Maranatha Baptist Church in Newport Arkansas, a congregation that crosses demographics and ethnic lines to reflect a true cross section of the community.  Their model truly fits the “…of all nations” found in the Great Commission. Bro. Bruce planted the church church, beginning as a home Bible study, in the early 1990’s, growing to organize as Maranatha Baptist Church, a thriving body of believers driven in large part by active and intentional discipling relationships.

Monday, March 30 – Bro. Jim Elliff  is founder and president of Christian Communicators Worldwide (CCW). For nearly twenty years prior to the beginning of CCW, he served as teaching pastor or on the pastoral team of churches in Florida, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma.  In addition to his writing and travel, Jim began Christ Fellowship of Kansas City in 2003. This unique church is made up of home congregations in the Kansas City metro area, and has grown significantly through intentional and powerful hands-on discipleship.

Picture Wade AllenTuesday, March 31 – Bro. Wade Allen is the lead pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Rogers, Arkansas where he began serving in 2014.  Prior to his service at Temple, Bro. Wade served 12 years as a missionary/church planter with Baptist Missionary Association of America, primarily serving in the Philippines.

Wednesday, April 1Bro. Micah Powell. Bro. Micah has served in the capacity of worship leader, youth pastor,MIcah Powell and Familypastor of adults, as well as camp evangelist, youth rally speaker, and has passionately pursued discipleship as his core ministry drive. Micah believes that every generation within the church has a responsibility to each other under God to engage one-another, to walk along side one another, and to personally invest in one another in such a way as to build one another up in their Christian walk – in short, to disciple one another.  “Discipleship is costly and can get ugly – but it is so worth it.”

The Homecoming: A Smoky Mountain Christmas Story

Come enjoy our Choir & Worship Arts production of The Homecoming: A Smoky Mountain Christmas Story, a humorous and heart-warming story that will strike a familiar chord with anyone who has ever spent Christmas with their extended family. The musical numbers are meaningful and memorable, and the warm, acoustic bluegrass accompaniment lends a real homespun flavor to this charming story of family and faith. We will present this production just one time on Sunday, December 1, 2019 at 11AM.
